All City employees, upon reaching the age of sixty five (65) years, may voluntarily retire the first month following their sixty fifth birthday. All employees who have reached age sixty five (65) and wish to continue in the employment of the City must pass a physical examination by a physician selected by the City Manager and City Council, such examination shall be at least thirty (30) days prior to each successive birthday, age sixty five (65) or thereafter. In the event that any employee should fail to pass an examination as provided herein, it will be compulsory for him to retire. (1988 Code §8.113; amd. Ord. 2002.95, 4-21-2003)
