There is hereby established an executive department of the City to be known and designated as the Combined Waterworks and Sewerage Department of the City, and there shall be placed in charge of the general management and control thereof a Director of Public Works who shall be appointed by the City Manager with the approval of the City Council, expressed by ordinance, it being hereby determined and declared that the establishment of the department and the appointment of a Director of Public Works is necessary and expedient for the best interests of this City. The Director of Public Works shall qualify for office in the same manner as any elective officials of the City, and shall post such bond in such amount as may be determined by the City Manager. All necessary employees of the department shall likewise be appointed by the City Manager with the approval of the City Council expressed by ordinance. (Ord. 2018.22, 4-15-2019)
