(A) Operation of golf cart. The operation of a golf cart within the town is strictly prohibited unless said golf cart is operated and equipped in full compliance with all of the terms and conditions set forth in this subchapter.
(B) Operator. Only persons over 16 years of age who hold a valid driver’s license may operate a golf cart upon the streets, roadways, intersections and alleys located within the town.
(C) Financial responsibility. The operator of a golf cart must be able to show financial responsibility when operating a golf cart. Written proof of financial responsibility must be available either by placing the same on the golf cart or by carrying by the operator of said golf cart at all times.
(D) Time of operation and lights. A golf cart may not be operated on the streets, roadways, intersections or alleys located within the town during the period commencing with that time which is 30 minutes after sunset and ending at that time which is 30 minutes before sunrise. Every golf cart shall be equipped with two operating headlights one of which being located on each side of the front of the golf cart and two operating taillights with brake lights and operating turn signals one of which being located on each side of the rear of the golf cart, which are visible from a distance of 500 feet.
(E) Place of operation. A golf cart may be operated on town streets, roadways and alleys which have a posted speed limit of 30 mph or less, or at and through intersections of such streets, roadways and alleys. A golf cart may not, in any circumstances, be operated on sidewalks, the switch trail or along national or state highways located within the town; provided, however, that a golf cart may be operated through intersections with national or state highways located within the town. Said national and state highways include, without limitation, State Road 18.
(F) Occupants.
(1) The number of occupants in a golf cart shall be limited to the number of persons for whom factory seating is installed and shall in no event exceed four persons. No person under two years of age shall be permitted to ride in a golf cart
(2) No person under ten years of age shall be permitted to ride on the rear seat of a golf cart. The operator of a golf cart and all occupants of said golf cart shall be seated in said golf cart, and no part of the body of the operator or any occupant shall extend outside the perimeter of said golf cart while said golf cart is being operated.
