§ 35.70 CHIEF OF POLICE; OFFICERS.
   (A)   There is hereby created the Office of Chief of Police of the City of Sweeny. The Chief of Police shall head the city Police Department and perform the duties of that position and perform such other duties as determined by the City Manager.
   (B)   The city shall employ such number of duly licensed police officers as determined by the Chief of Police and City Manager, and in accordance with the budget adopted by the City Council. All police officers shall be paid in accordance with the salary scale duly adopted by the city.
   (C)   The Chief of Police and all police officers employed by the city, before entering upon the discharge of their duties, shall take an oath of office as required by law and post such bond for the faithful performance of their duties, as required by law.
   (D)   The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the City Manager, but only after consultation with the City Council.
