(A) The operator or driver of any vehicle, motor or otherwise, shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at the end of a block, except at intersections where the movement of traffic is being regulated by police officers or traffic-control signals. After the operator or driver shall have stopped his or her vehicle, or brought it safely under control, so as to permit the pedestrian to safely pass, he or she may cross the marked crosswalk or intersection without waiting for other pedestrians not endangered thereby.
(B) Every pedestrian crossing a roadway at any point other than within a marked or unmarked crosswalk shall yield the right-of-way to vehicles upon the roadway, provided that this section shall not relieve the driver of a vehicle from the duty to exercise due care for the safety of pedestrians.
