282.09 DISABILITY RETIREMENT BENEFITS.
If, as a result of service-connected injury or illness, an officer is unable to return to full active duty as a police officer, as determined by a physician selected by the Borough in consultation with the officer, the officer shall be retired from active duty. Said officer shall receive a pension computed at 75% of the officer's salary at the time the disability was incurred. The pension rate will increase to 100% if the officer is determined to be unable to engage in any gainful employment. This benefit will be paid only to those persons who qualify for and receive disability benefits from the Social Security Administration, and the benefits paid from the Police Pension Fund will be reduced by one-half of the benefits paid by Social Security.
