(a) The normal retirement date for a participant shall be the first day of the month following his or her fifty-fifth birthday, provided the participant has completed 25 years of credited service and the participant does not desire to continue with the Police Department.
(b) An officer may retire after 20 years of service, regardless of age, as provided by the Act 24 amendments to Act 600, the amount of such pension being computed in accordance with the vesting and actuarial reduction requirements of Act 600.
