(A) The Deputy Fire Chief shall, in the absence or disability of the Chief, perform all the functions and exercise all of the authority of the Chief.

(B) The Deputy Fire Chief and firefighters shall be not less than 18 years of age and able-bodied. They shall pass a satisfactory mental and physical examination and shall become members of the Fire Department only after a six months’ probationary period.
