(A) The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners shall make all appointments to the positions of patrol officer and sergeant. The rules for the conduct of examinations to determine the fitness of candidates established by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, in compliance with the Illinois Municipal Code 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-17, shall govern the appointment process.
(B) The discharge of patrol officers and sergeants shall be conducted in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreements.
