(A) The goal of the village’s voluntary, Crime-Free Housing Program is to increase the quality of life of residents by partnering the village with owners, landlords and managing agents to decrease the incidents of public nuisances created by criminal activity in rental properties pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11-60-2.
(B) This Program will collect current and accurate information identifying existing rental properties, owners, landlords and managing agents in the village. This information shall be used by the Building and Zoning Department, the Police Department and the Fire Department to perform their respective duties.
(C) It is the intent of this chapter that it shall not be construed or enforced in any manner that would affect the tenancy of a tenant whose only involvement in an incident has been as the victim of a crime. It is also the intent of this chapter to protect residents who are victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and those who suffer from a disability.
(D) This Program is voluntary, and as such, any landlord shall have the right to not participate.
