§ 33.06 SICK LEAVE.
   (A)   Full-time permanent employee of the village employed prior to 5-1-2011 shall earn sick leave at a rate of eight hours per month. Full time permanent employees of the village hired on or after 5-1-2011 shall earn sick leave at a rate of four hours per month. Police patrol officers and sergeants refer to contract. Chief and Deputy Police Chief hired before the codification date shall earn sick leave at a rate of 12 hours per month and after the codification enactment date shall earn sick leave at the rate of four hours per month.
   (B)   Sick leave shall be posted on the first day of the month following the first full month of employment and on the first day of each successive month. Sick leave shall not be taken until posted.
   (C)   No payment for unused sick leave shall be made at the time of retirement, resignation or termination. The maximum accrual of sick leave for employees who are participants in the State Municipal Retirement Fund shall be 2,080 hours. All sick leave accumulated to a maximum of 2,080 hours by employees who are participants in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund shall be credited towards the determination of longevity for the retirement benefit as provided in 40 ILCS 5/7-139, as amended, and State Municipal Retirement Fund regulations.
   (D)   (1)   An employee not covered by a collective bargaining agreement may use sick leave benefits provided by the village for uncompensated absences due to the employee’s illness, injury, disability, or medical appointment.
      (2)   Under the same terms upon which an employee not covered by a collective bargaining agreement is entitled to use sick leave benefits for the employee’s own illness, injury, disability, or medical appointment, the employee may use his or her sick leave benefits related to the illness, injury, disability, or medical appointment of those family members listed in 820 ILCS 191/10, as they now appear, and as the same may be amended and/or recodified from time to time.
   (E)   Sick leave cannot be taken in increments of less than 30 minutes. When the need for sick leave is predictable, it shall be scheduled and approved by the employee’s supervisor at least 24 hours in advance.
   (F)   (1)   If any employee uses more than two consecutive days of sick leave, a doctor’s statement may be required upon return to work.
      (2)   For the purpose of this section, if a police officer uses more than three consecutive days of sick leave, a doctor’s or other medical, professional’s statement may be required upon return to work.
      (3)   The Supervisor may require documentation that sick leave was used for an authorized purpose.
   (G)   (1)   In the event that an employee’s status changes from part time to full time, he or she shall have sick leave posted after the first full month of full-time employment. In the event than an employee’s status changes from full time to part time, he or she shall immediately cease to earn sick leave.
      (2)   However, any sick leave previously earned and posted shall be retained and may be used accordingly.
