(A) For the purpose of this section, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
WELL-HEAD PROTECTION AREA. The surface and sub-surface area surrounding a water well or well-field, supplying a public water system, through which contaminants are reasonably likely to move toward and reach such water well or well field. The designated WELL-HEAD PROTECTION AREA will be recommended to the governing body by the Utilities Superintendent.
(B) The village has designated a well-head protection area for the purpose of protecting the municipal water supply system. The boundaries of the well-head protection system are designated in the village’s well-head protection area map drawn by the groundwater section of the State Department of Environmental Quality. A current map shall be on file in the office of the Village Clerk-Treasurer and the office of the Utilities Superintendent.
