For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
APPROVED RECEPTACLES. Tote carts or two-cubic-yard-capacity containers provided by the contract vendor for the collection of solid waste.
APPROVED WASTE DISPOSAL OR LANDFILL SITE. A place that has been approved by the state for the disposal of garbage, trash and waste, as well as used building materials and debris from construction, renovations or demolition.
COLLECTION STOP. Each single-family dwelling including homes, mobile homes, trailers or modular homes or each unit of a multi-family dwelling, each commercial business location and each school, hospital, nursing home or other institution which generates garbage, trash or waste and is located within the corporate limits of the village. Any single-family dwelling which is also a commercial business location shall be considered a single COLLECTION STOP. More than one commercial business at a single address shall be considered a single COLLECTION STOP.
CONTRACT VENDOR. The commercial garbage collection business having a valid contract with the governing body for the collection and disposal of solid waste within the village.
GARBAGE. Any animal, fruit, vegetable, kitchen refuse or other material that will or may decompose and become offensive or dangerous to health, but not including dead animals or manure.
TRASH. Wooden or cardboard boxes, chips or pieces of wood, bottles, broken glass, crockery, tin cans, papers, rags or any other litter or debris that is not an immediate hazard to the health of the residents of the village; provided, however, that used or discarded furniture or appliances, tree limbs, branches, sticks, yard waste, garden waste, leaves or grass clippings are not included within the meaning of the word TRASH.
WASTE. Cinders or ashes (when cool to the touch), broken plaster, brick, stone, sawdust, paper, plastic, glass, broken glass or metal.
YARD WASTE. Leaves, grass clippings, garden residue, excess garden produce, sticks, branches and tree limbs.
