(A) Title. This chapter shall be known as the Surry County Animal Control and Animal Welfare Chapter.
(B) Purpose. The purpose of this chapter is to:
(1) Protect the people of Surry County from dangerous, exotic or uncontrolled animals;
(2) Supplement, not supersede, the North Carolina Rabies Control Statutes; and
(3) Insure the humane treatment of animals within the county.
(C) This chapter shall not apply to animals otherwise regulated by North Carolina or Federal law.
