Sec. 17-9. Riding on vehicle or portion of vehicle not intended for passengers.

   It shall be unlawful for any person to ride on any vehicle or any portion of a vehicle not designed or intended for the use of passengers. This provision shall not be construed to apply to any employee engaged in the necessary discharge of a duty or to persons riding within truck bodies in spaces intended for merchandise.
