The police chief or his designee is hereby authorized to negotiate with other localities for interlocal cooperation agreements regarding police protection pursuant to G.S. 160A-461. Any agreement shall be effective upon approval by the governing bodies of the participating localities, and any agreement made shall conform to the requirements of G.S. 160A-461 and 160A-464.
