The provisions of this article shall apply to persons and businesses carrying on the business, trade, or profession of massage and/or bodywork therapy, including persons holding themselves out to be massage therapists, bodywork therapists, masseurs, masseuses, massagists, and similar terms, and to persons and businesses engaging in the massage and/or bodywork activities defined in G.S. 90-622(3). The provisions of this article shall not apply to a regularly established and licensed hospital, sanitarium, nursing home, or medical clinic or to the professional practices of duly qualified and licensed physicians, osteopaths, or chiropractors.
