§ 35.115  WORKERS’ COMPENSATION.
   (A)   Generally. Workers’ compensation insurance provides coverage for work-related injuries and illnesses as required under the workers’ compensation laws of the state. Workers’ compensation insurance covers all authorized expenses related to the treatment of a work-related illness or injury and provides “lost time benefits” when an employee must be absent from work on a workers’ compensation disability leave.
   (B)   Reporting a work-related injury or illness.
      (1)   All injuries must be reported to a supervisor as soon as possible even though medical attention may not be needed at the time.
      (2)   A delay in reporting an injury may result in the loss of a medical expense benefit.
      (3)   The supervisor is to file the written report with the Clerk-Treasurer’s office within 24 hours of the injury or illness.
   (C)   Seeking medical attention.
      (1)   An employee with a minor injury occurring between the hours of operation listed below, shall seek medical attention at:
Margaret Mary Occupational Health & Wellness Center
   1051 State Route 229, Batesville, IN 47006
   Phone: 812.932.5105
   Monday: 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
   Tuesday through Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
      (2)   An employee with a serious or life-threatening injury should be transported to the nearest appropriate hospital.
      (3)   Compensation and benefits for an absence resulting from a work-related injury or illness and a workers’ compensation disability leave.
      (4)   Lost time benefits due to a work-related injury or illness begin on the eighth calendar day following an employee’s absence because of a work-related injury or illness. If an employee wishes to be paid for work missed during the first seven calendar days, he or she must use any accrued time.
      (5)   If the absence from work extends longer than 21 calendar days, the initial seven-day waiting period will be retroactively paid by the workers’ compensation insurance carrier.
   (D)   Insurance coverage.
      (1)   Group health insurance coverage and other insurance benefits will continue on the same basis, as coverage would have been provided had the employee been continuously employed during the period of a workers’ compensation disability leave as long as the employee pays his or her regular portion of the premium on a timely basis.
      (2)   Employees must arrange with the Clerk-Treasurer’s office to pay their portion of this insurance coverage.
