(A) Newly hired employees of the town shall be required to complete a 90-day probationary period.
(B) The probationary period allows management the opportunity to closely observe and evaluate the employee’s fitness and suitability for the position to which they have been appointed.
(C) Only those employees who demonstrate an acceptable standard of conduct and performance during this period shall be retained in their positions.
(D) If the service of a newly hired probationary employee is unsatisfactory, he or she may be terminated at any time during his or her probationary period.
(E) Benefits begin the first day of the month following the employee’s probationary period.
(F) Time spent on inactive pay status or non-paid leave of absence shall not be counted toward the completion of the probationary period.
