§ 35.043  EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY.
   (A)   In order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions at the town will be based on merit, qualifications, and abilities. The town strictly enforces Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC); and thereby does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, including sexual orientation), national origin, disability, age as referenced in the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), genetic information as referenced in the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), military service, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state and local laws.
   (B)   The town will make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with known disabilities in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act and Amendments (ADAAA), unless doing so would result in an undue hardship. This policy governs all aspects of employment, including selection, job assignment, compensation, discipline, termination, and access to benefits and training. Employees with questions or concerns about any type of discrimination in the workplace are encouraged to bring these issues to the attention of their supervisor, or the Clerk-Treasurer’s office.
   (C)   Police Department employees are encouraged to also bring these issues to the Police Commissioners. Employees may raise concerns and make reports without fear of reprisal. Anyone found to be engaging in any type of unlawful discrimination may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
