Upon service or disability retirement, each employee shall be paid twenty-five (25%) percent of the unused sick leave accrued to his/her credit, provided that the maximum which shall be paid and received shall be two hundred forty (240) hours. Such pay shall be payable at the end of the next scheduled pay period. Payment of sick leave under this provision shall result in the elimination of all sick leave credit accrued but unused by the employee at the time the payment is made. In the case of the death of an employee, the rate of compensation shall be as provided in Ohio R.C. 124.384 or at the rate of one (1) hour of pay for every two (2) hours of accumulated balance.
