Unless otherwise indicated, the following definitions shall apply:
Hiring authority shall mean the Mayor, the Administrator and in certain instances, the Village Council, as authorized by Ohio Revised Code, to make appointments to the several positions of the Village of Sunbury. The Mayor and/or the Chief of Police is the hiring authority for the Police Department.
(a) Village shall mean the Village of Sunbury, Ohio.
(b) Exempt shall mean those employees who are not eligible for overtime compensation.
(c) Nonexempt shall mean those employees who are eligible for overtime compensation.
(d) Reinstatement shall mean the specific act of the hiring authority to hire a previous employee back into Village employment. The act of reinstatement is an option of the appointment authority which grants employees all previously accumulated seniority. Employees who have been separated for disciplinary reasons are not eligible for reinstatement.
(e) Supervisor shall mean an individual who is employed in a position which involves overseeing and directing the work of lower level employees on a daily basis.
(f) Employee shall mean all persons employed by the Village of Sunbury. Sunbury Village Council members are not to be considered as employees for purposes of this chapter. (Ord. 2011-11. Passed 7-6-11.)
