6-5-1: DEFINITIONS:
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings stated, unless the context clearly requires some other meaning:
MOTOR ASSISTED SCOOTER: A self-propelled device with:
   A.   At least two (2) wheels in contact with the ground;
   B.   A braking system capable of stopping the unit under typical operating conditions;
   C.   An electric motor not exceeding two thousand watts (2,000 W);
   D.   Either:
      1. Handlebars and a deck design for a person to stand while operating the device; or
      2. Handle bars and a seat designed for a person to sit, straddle, or stand while operating the device;
   E.   A design for the ability to be propelled by human power alone; and
   F.   A maximum speed of twenty (20) miles per hour on a paved level surface.
Motor assisted scooter does not include an "electric assisted bicycle" or a "motor-driven bicycle" as those terms are defined by Utah Code Annotated 41-6a-102 (as amended).
SCOOTER-SHARE OPERATOR: A person offering a shared scooter for hire or as part of a membership program.
SCOOTER-SHARE PROGRAM: The offering of a shared scooter for hire or as part of a membership program.
SHARED SCOOTER: A motor assisted scooter offered for hire or as part of a membership program. (Ord. 898, 5-29-2019)
