505.02 CERTAIN ANIMALS PROHIBITED FROM RUNNING AT LARGE.
   (a)    No person, being the owner, custodian or person in charge of any horse, mule, cattle, swine, sheep, goat, goose, duck, turkey, chicken or other fowl or animal excepting cat, shall allow such animal or fowl to run at large on any public street, sidewalk, public place or unenclosed land, or upon the property of another without his consent.

   (b)    No cats shall be kept in the City during an official State, County or City quarantine period on cats provided, that the owner or custodian of a cat may keep and maintain such cat on his own premises, properly enclosed, during such quarantine period and provided further, that the owner or custodian of any cat shall be permitted to take such cat off of his own premises onto the public streets in the City during such quarantine period, provided such cat is accompanied by a person over the age of fifteen years and provided that the cat is on a leash and muzzled while off of the premises of the owner or custodian, during such quarantine period.
   (c)    All persons, citizens and residents of the City are hereby required to keep all dogs of every kind, size, sex and character on the premises of the owner of such dog at all times unless such dog is on a chain or leash and being followed or lead by its owner or someone having authority to have said dog away from the said premises.
   (d)    It shall be unlawful for any dog, as above described, to run at large in the City of Summersville, and in the event that a dog is running at large in said City, and not being accompanied by its owner or other authorized person as above designated, it shall be impounded, wherever it may be found, by the City and/or County Dog Warden.
   (e)    Any dog seized and impounded, as above provided, shall be detained for a period of five days and if it is not claimed or redeemed by its owner, or other authorized person, within said period of five days, then it shall be disposed of in such manner by such person that the Mayor may designate provided, however, that whenever the name of any person appears on the collar of any dog so seized, such person shall forthwith be notified of such seizure in writing by post card addressed to him and deposited in the United States mail.
