(A) The Town Council shall provide funds for an independent annual audit of all financial records and transactions of the town government by a certified public accountant or firm of such accountants having no personal interest, direct or indirect, in the fiscal affairs of the town government or any of its officers.
(B) The auditor shall be selected not later than 30 days after the beginning of the fiscal year, and the contract shall be for a term not less than one nor more than four years. Council in its discretion may accept for inclusion in the general audit an independent audit of any municipal agency or department.
