§ 91.49 DESIGN STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES.
   (A)   The installation and design of speed humps shall comply with the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Recommended Practice, Guidelines for the Design and Application of Speed Humps. All signage and pavement markings shall comply with the current edition of the MUTCD. Should signage and markings not be defined in the MUTCD, they shall comply with ITE’s Recommended Practice, Guidelines for the Design and Application of Speed Humps.
   (B)   Please note that these guidelines and the state and national laws that govern them require warnings for motorists that a speed hump is on the road. They require markings on the road showing the speed hump’s location and/or street signs on posts that warn of an upcoming speed hump. The signs are an integral part of placing a speed hump on a roadway; the installation of a speed hump without these signs is illegal.
