143.08 OFF-DUTY POLICE WORK AND USE OF CITY POLICE VEHICLES.
   (a)   The Police Chief may approve police officers working on private traffic control and related jobs outside the Police Department, as independent contractors, for a private employer so long as the officer signs a release and secures a release, on a form prepared by the Law Director, from the private employer before any such work begins.

   (b)   The Police Chief may approve the use of a City police vehicle by a City police officer while on private traffic control jobs for a rental of fifteen dollars ($15.00) per hour, to be paid by the private employer, and under such terms and conditions as the Police Chief deems advisable. All money received from the rental of any City police vehicle is to be deposited into a fund to be used for police vehicle maintenance, repair and fuel only.
