925.09 SENIOR WATER RATE DISCOUNT.
   (a)   The Streetsboro Water Service Discount Program will apply to “qualified residential customers”. A discount of 10% will be deducted from the water bill otherwise due to be paid by “qualified residential customers”.
   (b)   A “qualified residential customer” shall be defined as an individual who owns the home in which he resides (and to which the water service is being supplied) is 65 years of age or older, has demonstrated that he/she is currently receiving the Homestead Tax Exemption as contained in Section 323.51 of the Ohio Revised Code for the property for which the deduction is requested, is responsible for the payment of the water service bill, has made appropriate application to the City of Streetsboro and has had that application approved. In order to receive the discount, the “qualified residential customer” must satisfy each of these requirements.
   (c)   The City reserves the right to suspend or cancel this senior water rate discount at any time and without prior notice; and only those “qualified residential customers” who have had their applications approved by the City shall have such discount granted to them. This section confers no rights to a senior water rate discount to any subscriber unless and until their application has been approved. The City, its officials and officers, will not be liable for any errors in administering this program.
   (d)   Each applicant under this program must swear or affirm the truth of the statements in the application, and any applicant knowingly submitting a false application will be required to reimburse the City for any discounted fees not paid by the application under this program, and may be subject to prosecution for perjury under Ohio R.C. 2921.11.
   (e)   Effective Date of Water Rate Discount. The water rate discount shall commence during the first full billing quarter after the applicant’s application has been approved and the applicant has been determined to be a “qualified residential customer”.
