DUCT CONSTRUCTION
A. Subsection M-1601.1.1 Duct construction:
Delete No. 5 & No. 7
Insert Sentence: Metallic duct must be installed in stud wall cavities.
B. Subsection M-1601.4.1 Joints and seams:
Add sentence: Duct tape shall not be used.
AMENDMENT TO SECTION M-1602
RETURN AIR
A. Subsection M-1602.4 Return air required:
M-1602.4 Return Air Required: An individual return air duct shall be provided in each bedroom.
NEW SECTION M-1603
KITCHEN AND BATHROOM EXHAUST
A. Add new Subsection M-1603.1 Exhaust ductwork:
All exhaust ductwork shall be installed with solid metal ductwork terminating with individual vents to the exterior. All ductwork shall be insulated in unheated spaces. A minimum of three feet (3') of metal flexible ductwork may be used at the bathroom fan where approved by the Building Official. All wall vent caps shall have a built-in back-draft damper and screening on the exterior. Ductwork installed in un-conditioned spaces shall be insulated with approved insulation. Exception: Interior vented range hoods may be permitted by the code official in cases where it is not possible to vent to the exterior.
