FACTORY-BUILT FIREPLACES
A. Subsection R-1004.4 Unvented gas log heaters:
Delete this subsection in its entirety and insert the following:
Unvented fireplaces are not permitted to be installed under any circumstances.
AMENDMENT TO SECTION R-1006
EXTERIOR AIR SUPPLY
A. Subsection R-1006.1 Exterior air:
Delete wording: "unless the room is mechanically ventilated and controlled so that the indoor pressure is neutral or positive"
Add sentence: Factory-built or masonry fireplaces covered in this chapter shall be equipped with an exterior air supply to assure proper fuel combustion.
B. Insert Section R-1006.6 Spark arrestor:
All fireplace chimneys shall have an approved spark arrestor installed.
