AMENDMENT TO SECTION R-801
GENERAL
A. Subsection R-801.3 Roof drainage:
Add sentence: All downspouts shall discharge onto splash blocks or other material approved by the Building Official.
B. Subsection R-801.4 Roof slope:
R-801.4 Roof slope: All residential structures and additions to existing structures shall have a roof pitch of 3-12 or greater.
Exceptions:
1. Factory manufactured sunrooms with metal or rubber roof systems.
2. Additions to existing structures where the existing roof pitch is less than 3-12 with the approval of the Building Official.
AMENDMENT TO SECTION R-802
WOOD ROOF FRAMING
A. Subsection R-802.11 Roof tie-down:
Add sentence: Hurricane anchors shall be used to tie all trusses to exterior walls in all structures.
Add Exception: Detached accessory structures.
AMENDMENT TO SECTION R-803
ROOF SHEATHING
A. Subsection R-803.2.1 Identification and grade:
Add sentence: Roofs shall be constructed of a minimum of 1/2" thick, 3-ply CDX plywood. Chipboard (OSB)or particleboard shall not be used in roof applications.
B. Subsection R-803.2.1.1 Exposure durability:
Add sentence: Particleboard shall not be used for roof sheathing.
