AMENDMENT TO SECTION R-602
WOOD WALL FRAMING
   A.   Subsection R-602.3.1 Stud spacing:
   Add sentence: Stud spacing in bearing walls shall be a minimum of 16" on center in all instances.
   Exception: The Building Official may approve spacing greater than 16" on center in unusual circumstances with an architectural structural engineer's approval.
   Exception: Accessory structures that are 175 sq ft or less in area may have wall studs a minimum of 24 inches on center
   B.   Subsection R-602.5 Interior nonbearing walls:
   R-602.5 Interior nonbearing walls:
   Delete the first sentence in its entirety and insert the following:
   All interior non-load bearing partitions shall be a minimum 2 x 4, 16" on center construction.
   C.   Subsection R-602.9 Cripple walls:
   Add sentence: Foundation cripple walls shall be framed of studs having the size required for an additional story.
AMENDMENT TO SECTION R-606
GENERAL MASONRY CONSTRUCTION
   A.   Subsection R-606.1.1 Professional registration not required:
   Delete this subsection in its entirety.
AMENDMENT TO SECTION R-612
EXTERIOR WINDOWS AND GLASS DOORS
   A.   Subsection R-612.2 Guards: Amend by adding the following:
   Insect screens for double hung windows shall cover the entire window. Exception: Half screens may be used where the screen locks in place and has weather-stripping to create a tight seal.
AMENDMENT TO SECTION R-613
EXTERIOR WINDOWS AND GLASS DOORS
   A.   Subsection R-612.2 Performance
   Add sentences: All glass in habitable areas shall be double glazed or insulated glass. Frames, jambs, and thresholds, if other than wood, shall have a thermal barrier. All doors shall be double glazed or insulated glass. Frames, jambs, and thresholds, if other than wood, shall have a thermal barrier.
