4-2-2: REGISTRATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Any person owning, keeping, harboring or having custody of any animal over four (4) months of age within the village must have the animal(s) vaccinated for rabies by a licensed veterinarian or antirabies clinic, and must continue to have the animal(s) vaccinated every year, or as required by a licensed veterinarian or antirabies clinic.
   B.   Any person owning, keeping, harboring or having custody of any animal over four (4) months of age within the village may register the animal as herein provided. This provision may not apply to the keeping of small cage birds or aquatic and amphibian animals solely as pets.
   C.   Written application for registration shall be made with the police department, which application shall include the name and address of the applicant, description of the animal and a rabies certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian or antirabies clinic, for every dog or cat over the age of four (4) months.
   D.   Upon acceptance of the registration application, the registering authority shall issue a durable tag or identification collar, stamped with an identifying number. Tags should be designed so that they may be conveniently fastened or riveted to the animal's collar or harness.
   E.   Dogs and cats must wear identification tags or collars at all times when off the premises of the owners.
   F.   The registering authority shall maintain a record of the identifying numbers of all tags issued and shall make this record available to the public. (Ord. 2001-45, 10-4-2001)
   G.   No residence shall maintain or house more than three (3) animals with the exception of a new litter up to the age of four (4) months. This provision may not apply to the keeping of caged birds or aquatic and caged amphibian animals solely as pets. (Ord. 2008-3, 2-7-2008)
