505.17 POSSESSION OF EXOTIC ANIMALS PROHIBITED.
   (a)   For the purpose of this section, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   "Exotic animals" means any animal other than a dog, bird, except a bird of prey, a domestic cat or farm animals such as horses, pigs, cows, goats, rabbits, chickens and ducks which, by their nature and in their natural state, live in the wild. "Exotic animals" includes lions, tigers, bears, zebras, cheetas, giraffes, elephants, poisonous and dangerous snakes, gorillas, chimps, monkeys and baboons.
   (b)   Exotic animals shall be prohibited in the City unless and until they are approved by Council as to their maintenance and the method of keeping and supervising restraints or controls over them.

   (c)   Whoever violates this section shall be guilty of a minor misdemeanor for a first offense and a misdemeanor of the fourth degree for each subsequent offense.
