139.02 AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR POLICE AND FIREMEN.
   All applicants for original appointment to the Police Department shall have reached the minimum age of twenty-one years, but no person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment to the Police Department on and after his fortieth birthday. All applicants for original appointment to the Fire Department shall have reached the minimum age of twenty-one years, but no person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment to the Fire Department on and after his thirty-sixth birthday. However, there shall be no maximum age limitation for those persons originally appointed or promoted to the office of Chief of Police or Fire Chief within the Department of Public Safety unless the limitation is prescribed by the Civil Service Commission or the appointing authority. Further, all applicants for original appointment shall continue to be subject to the other provisions of Ohio R.C. 124.41 and 124.42 and to the general Civil Service rules and regulations established by the Civil Service Commission.
