1503.02 POWERS AND DUTIES.
   (a)   The Fire Marshal and the Department of Fire Prevention shall enforce all laws and ordinances relating to the following:
      (1)   The prevention of fire;
      (2)   The storage and use of explosives and flammables;
      (3)   The maintenance and regulation of fire escapes;
      (4)   The means and adequacy of exit, in case of fire, of all buildings, structures or premises in or on which numbers of persons work, live or congregate from time to time for any purpose;
      (5)   The investigation of the cause, origin and circumstances of fire;
      (6)   The installation, where necessary, and maintenance of automatic or other types of fire alarm systems and fire extinguishing equipment.
   (b)   In addition to the duties enumerated in subsection (a) hereof, the Fire Marshal and the Department of Fire Prevention are authorized to:
      (1)   Make inspections of buildings, structures and premises;
      (2)   Enforce the provisions of this Part Fifteen - Fire Prevention Code; and
      (3)   Perform those other duties as may be conferred and imposed from time to time by state law or municipal ordinance.
