(a) Each driver or emergency medical technician must possess the following qualifications.
(1) He must be in possession of a certificate of graduation from a high school,or its equivalent, and a valid operator's license.
(2) He must be clean of dress and person and not be addicted to the use of intoxicating liquor, narcotics or drugs.
(3) He must be at least eighteen years of age.
(b) The emergency medical technician must possess a valid certificate from the State stating he has satisfactorily completed an emergency medical technician training course as approved by the Department of Transportation. Further, that he shall have served twenty hours or more in the emergency room or other suitable units in an approved hospital, with a certificate of having completed this experience. A copy of this currently valid certificate shall be on file with the appropriate City department.
(c) The emergency medical technician-paramedic shall demonstrate continued competence with all facets of advanced life support, as attested to by the medical advisor for that squad. Documentation of this continued competence shall be filed with the appropriate City department by the medical advisor on a yearly basis.
(d) Compliance with the sections of this chapter shall be subject to investigation by the Police Department.
