(A) The Police Department shall consist of a Chief of Police and as many other police officers as may be provided for from time to time by the Council.
(B) As provided in G.S. Ch. 160A, Art. 13, police officers shall:
(1) Take, subscribe and file with the Clerk the oath of office prescribed by Art. VI, § 7, of the State Constitution, which oath is set forth in § 31.001(C) of this chapter; and
(2) Have all the powers invested in law enforcement officers by statue or common law within the corporate limits of the town and within one mile thereof and on property owned or leased by the town.
