The objective of this chapter for the town is to protect the potable water supply of the town. This will be accomplished by requiring the use of appropriate backflow protection methods. The possibility of contamination will be minimized by confining within the customer’s private water system those contaminants or pollutants which could, under adverse conditions, backflow through uncontrolled cross-connections into the public water system.
