Any sign now or hereafter existing which no longer advertises a bona fide business conducted or a product sold, except non-commercial signs, shall be taken down and removed by the owner, agent or person having the beneficial use of the building or structure upon which the sign may be found within ten days after written notice from the Building Commissioner. Upon failure to comply with the notice within the time specified, the Commissioner may request the Village Attorney to apply to a court of competent jurisdiction for an order that the violation be abated and the sign be removed at the expense of the owner of the property upon which it is located or to take whatever other action to enforce this subchapter as may be permitted by law.
