(A) The Director of Public Safety or Fire Inspectors, upon complaint of any person or whenever they shall deem it necessary, shall inspect all buildings and premises within their jurisdiction. Whenever they shall find any buildings or other structures which, for want of repairs, lack of or insufficient fire escapes, automatic or other fire alarm apparatus or fire extinguishing equipment, or by reason of age or dilapidated conditions, or from any other cause, is especially liable to fire, and which is so situated as to endanger other property or the occupants thereof, they shall order the dangerous conditions or materials to be removed or remedied and the order shall forthwith be complied with by the owner or occupant of the premises or building.
(B) If the order is made by any Fire Inspector, the owner or occupant may, within 24 hours, appeal to the Director of Public Safety, who shall consider the matter. If, in his or her opinion, the matter is of sufficient importance, he or she shall notify the President and Board of Trustees, who shall take action as is appropriate.
