ORDINANCE NO. 739
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING FAST TRACK DEMOLITION
WHEREAS, The Village Board intends to establish regulations governing fast track demolition for unsafe buildings to promote the health and safety of the residence of the Village of Stockton:
WHEREAS, The Village Board intends to approve an Ordinance to Fast Track Demolition in the Village of Stockton.
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED that the Village of Stockton approves an Ordinance for Fast Track Demolition in the Village of Stockton.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE BOARD OF THE VILLAGE OF STOCKTON AS FOLLOWS:
The Village has adopted this regulation to achieve the following goals:
Notwithstanding any of the terms and provisions of 9-1-1 through 9-1-3 of this chapter, the Village may utilize "fast-track" demolition proceedings as provided for in and pursuant to the terms of 65 ILCS 5/11-31-1(e) to expedite demolition of certain properties and obtain a lien thereon, if a residential or commercial building is three stories or less in height, as defined by the Village's Building Code, and the municipal official in charge of enforcing the Building Code determines that the building is open and vacant and an immediate and continuing hazard to the community, the building may be demolished, repaired or enclosed by the city, or any garbage, debris and other hazardous, noxious or unhealthy substances or materials may be removed by the city, without the necessity of court proceedings if the notice requirements as stated in 65 ILCS 11-31-1(e) are complied with and no objections are raised, as provided for in 65 ILCS 11-31-1(e).
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED that the Village of Stockton approves a Fast Track Demolition Ordinance.
