4-1-2: CHIEF OF POLICE:
   A.   Office Created: There is hereby created the office of chief of police, who shall be appointed by the village president by and with the advice and consent of the board of trustees, and he shall be ex officio village marshal and superintendent of police. (1966 Code §5.002)
   B.   Duties: The chief of police shall be the keeper of the village jail and shall have custody of all persons incarcerated therein. He shall keep such records and make such reports concerning the activities of his department as may be required by statute or by the president and board of trustees. The chief shall be responsible for the performance of the police department in all its functions, and all persons who are members of the department shall serve subject to the orders of the chief of police.    C.   Stolen Property, Custody Of: The chief of police shall be the custodian of all lost and abandoned or stolen property in the village. (1966 Code §5.010)
