(a) Upon every person engaging or continuing within this City in the business of contracting, the tax shall be equal to one percent (1%) of the business derived from contracts. No contractor building a single family dwelling shall be charged more than one thousand two hundred twenty-five dollars ($1,225.00).

(b) The City Recorder may require any contractor who performs work within the City sufficient surety in an amount equal to one percent (1%) of the estimate gross revenue that said contractor shall receive as a result of work performed within the City limits.
