141.03 POWERS AND DUTIES.

   (a)    It shall be the function and duty of the Fire Department and every member thereof to:

      (1)    Combat fires within the corporate limits;

      (2)    Prevent the occurrence of fires;

      (3)    Inspect and abate fire hazards; and

      (4)    Maintain proper records of fires and matters related thereto.

   (b)    All regularly appointed members of the Fire Department are hereby given the necessary special police powers for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this article. (1972 Code §7-1-4)
