Every member of the Police Department shall, before entering upon his duties, take the oath prescribed by law, and shall give bond in the amount of three thousand five hundred dollars ($3,500), with surety to be approved by Council, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his office and for the faithful accounting of all moneys and property which may come into his hands by virtue of his office.
