137.06  SETTLEMENT OF CLAIMS; SUITS.
   (a)    In cases where suits have been brought on behalf of the City for the collection of claims, the City Attorney may, in the discretion of Council, retain the claim and continue to prosecute the suits, the claims to be duly accounted for thereafter notwithstanding the expiration of his term of office.
   (b)    In cases where suits are pending against the City, at the expiration of the term of office of the City Attorney, who has had charge thereof, the City Attorney may, by resolution of Council, be retained to continue in sole or partial charge of such suits; provided, that any case mentioned in this section, where the City Attorney continues to perform any work for the City after the expiration of his term of office, all compensation for so doing shall be agreed upon by Council before such service shall be performed.
