Except as otherwise herein provided, the Mayor shall have authority to suspend for cause any appointed City officer and to fill the vacancy, if necessary, until the next meeting of Council. He shall report to Council the suspension and grounds therefor, for appropriate action. (1972 Code §2-2-9)
