147.03 PURCHASE OF FIREARM UPON RETIREMENT.
   (a)   Council agrees to extend the benefit of purchasing the City issued side arm weapon from the City for the price of one dollar ($1.00) to the Chief of Police. The Chief must have ten years of continuous service, at the time of separation, from the City through the Police and Fire Pension Fund. If the current side arm of the retiring Chief has been purchased by the City within three (3) years of the employee’s retirement date, the Chief will be entitled to purchase for the price of one dollar ($1.00) the side arm previously carried. If the current side arm of the retiring Chief has been purchased by the City prior to three (3) years from the Chief’s retirement date, the Chief will be entitled to purchase said weapon.
   (b)   The Chief of Police has the option of having the side arm engraved with the names and dates of service at the City’s expense without requiring any modifications to the gun. (Ord. 2017-20. Passed 9-11-17.)
