§ 90.247 INTERACTIONS WITH WILD ANIMALS.
   (A)   Consistent with and in addition to G.S. § 113-291.11, the town ordains that it shall be unlawful within the town’s limits for any person to intentionally feed, annoy, harass, provoke, or injure any wild animal, which shall be defined to include any typically non-domesticated animal such as, and without limitation, alligators, deer, bears, raccoons, possums, foxes, coyotes, and the like.
      (1)   Violations of this provision with respect to alligators is governed by G.S. § 113-291.11 and related provisions.
      (2)   Violations of this provision with respect to any other wild animal shall result in a fine as provided for in G.S. § 14-4.
   (B)   Consistent with the county animal control ordinance, which the town previously adopted in its entirety by that ordinance entitled “Town of St. James Animal Control Ordinance” dated July 7, 2015, the town herein restates that it shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally feed any stray animal, including cats and/or dogs, except as specifically provided in those limited circumstances set forth in § 90.091 of the county animal control ordinance, which regulations are enforced by those sanctions, penalties, fines, and remedies as set forth in the county animal control ordinance.
